
PUBLIC LECTURE
This year marks 20 years of National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) regulating Higher Education in Uganda. NCHE was established under the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001 (as amended), with the mandate to regulate the provision of Higher Education, advise the government on policy matters relating to Higher Education in Uganda and to equate qualifications of Higher Education from within and outside the country. NCHE started its operations in 2003 and has since promoted accessible, quality and transformative Higher Education in Uganda.
As part of the activities to celebrate 20 years of existence, the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports launched these celebrations on 9th March, 2023 at Speke Resort Munyonyo. NCHE has also organized a Public Lecture under the theme “Financing and Investment in the Higher Education Sub-Sector in Uganda”. The sub themes include ‘Public Financing in Higher Education Institutions’, ‘Funding from Private Sector’, ‘Access to Higher Education Student Loans’ ‘The Cost of Higher Education’ and ‘Employability.’
