Uganda hosted the 1st Regional Ministerial Conference on the East African Common Higher Education Area (EACHEA), from 9th to 11 September 2025, at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.
The Conference was jointly organized by the Forum of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of National Councils and Commissions for Higher Education in East Africa Community and the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA).
The Theme for the Conference was “Enhancing Regional Integration through Harmonized Higher Education Systems for Sustainable Development in East Africa.” It brought together Ministers responsible for higher education, Regulators, University Leaders, and Partners from all the EAC partner states.
The conference convened by Uganda’s First Lady who is also the Minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni was officially opened by President of the republic of Uganda Rtd Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
